![]() The problem is that we just don't know enough at this point to say for sure. And because of Nintendo's history of online shenanigans, many wonder if the Switch is going to be an isolated platform like PlayStation. Unfortunately, Sony is keeping the PlayStation as its own Genshin ecosystem (with some fun exclusives like Aloy from Horizon: Zero Dawn as a playable character, at least), where nothing carries over to the other platforms. ![]() Except for the PlayStation 4 and 5 versions, you can log in on your iPhone to do a few quests and then immediately log onto your PC and start from that spot immediately, and then you can pop onto your Android tablet for some dungeoneering. As it currently stands, all of the versions of Genshin Impact are cross-play compatible. What About Nintendo Switch Cross-Play?Īnd on top of that, there's the issue of cross-play. Making matters more difficult, miHoYo imposes its own strict regulations for network-related activity, so negotiations could be tense. Anyone who has owned a Nintendo device in the last decade knows how strict the company can be with anything online. Many limited-time events also encourage interacting with others online, though they are strictly optional. Genshin Impact is primarily single-player, but players unlock co-op online play when they reach Adventure Rank 16. There is also the matter of the online play. It certainly wouldn't be the first Switch game to offer in-app purchases, but maybe there are some legal obstacles to navigate. You then use these to “wish” for new characters and weapons. While the game is free to download and play, the game entices to spend real money on Primogems. Perhaps there are some complications with the in-app purchases. And miHoYo has been silent about any difficulties porting Genshin Impact to Switch, so we can only speculate as to why. So what gives, miHoYo? The reason for the Switch-release delay is likely due to several things. It's been over a year now since miHoYo teased a Switch version as “coming soon”. Nintendo's hybrid console/handheld continues to sell like hotcakes, yet there is still no sign of Genshin Impact on the eShop. With miHoYo tricking new content into the game at a steady pace and several more continents yet to be added, now is a great time to jump into the world of Teyvat. Right now, we’re pretty much like Aether/Lumine, traveling across Teyvat, unsure if we’ll ever see our sibling again. Not to mention that we’re also waiting for the game to release on Xbox.Genshin Impact, the free-to-play open-world RPG developed by miHoYo, remains one of the most popular games on any system. “We have a next-gen Nintendo console in our forecasts for late 2024, so I’m not convinced a ‘Pro’ model is going to appear at all.”Īs there is still no clear date for Genshin Impact’s release on Nintendo Switch, does this mean that we’ll have to wait until 2024?Īnother two years, huh? But then again, we can only wish for an earlier release. So, Switch Pro or whatever, what’s next for Nintendo Switch? “I’m not expecting a Switch Pro in 2022.” Nintendo said “at this time” which means that there might be plans for new Nintendo Switch models in the future.Įarlier this year, gaming industry analyst Piers Harding-Rolls predicted that Nintendo will skip the Switch Pro and will focus on a next-gen successor to the original Switch and said: So, as we do in Genshin Impact, let’s “dig.” While we’re happy with the OLED Model, there is essentially a little difference between it and the original Switch. “We also want to clarify that we just announced that Nintendo Switch (OLED Model) will launch in October, 2021, and have no plans for launching any other model at this time.” We’ve certainly heard rumors about the Nintendo Switch Pro, but months after we heard about the “weaker hardware” stuff, Nintendo crushed our hopes and dreams when they tweeted: READ MORE: Genshin Impact Daily Check-in Guide: Get 100+ Primogems for free!īut is there going to be a better Nintendo Switch?
